The Oakland Athletics have signed infielder/outfielder Scott Moore to a minor league contract.

The Oakland Athletics have signed infielder/outfielder Scott Moore to a minor league contract, reports Brian McTaggart of MLB.com:

Scott Moore, who hit .259 with nine homers and 26 RBIs in a part-time role with the Astros last season, has signed a Minor League deal with the A’s with an invitation to Spring Training.

Moore’s new deal with the A’s includes an invitation to major league spring training.

Moore was outrighted by the Houston Astros earlier this month. He told McTaggart that he fielded "quite a few offers" before deciding to sign with Oakland. He chose the A’s because of the team’s history of giving players in his situation "pretty good opportunities to play." Moore is also a southern California native and is excited to play closer to home.

Moore received the most extensive stretch of major league playing time of his career last season with the Astros. The 29-year-old hit .259/.330/.448 with 11 doubles and nine home runs over 201 at-bats while manning first, second and third base as well as right and left field.

Over parts five seasons at the major league level Moore has hit .242/.302/.410.
