Mets outfielder Lucas Duda had surgery Monday on his right wrist, which was broken while moving furniture in his Southern California apartment last month, reports Anthony MacCarron of the NY Daily News:

Lucas Duda’s hope for a bounce-back season in 2013 will now start with rehab from surgery – the Mets’ outfielder broke his right wrist moving furniture last month and had an operation to repair the fracture...

He is slated to be released from the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan later Tuesday.

Duda is expected to make a full recovery in time for Spring Training at the end of February, but the injury could set back help his chances of getting a starting corner-outfield job come April. The 26-year-old Duda broke camp as the Mets' starting right fielder in 2012, but was demoted to the minors in late July after a rough first half.

Duda finished the season hitting a respectable .239/.329/.389 with fifteen home runs in one hundred twenty-one games, but his strikeout rate skyrocketed to over twenty-six percent from just sixteen the year before.
