The Chicago White Sox have acquired outfielder Blake Tekotte from the San Diego Padres for minor-league right-hander Brandon Kloess, the team has announced:

Tekotte, 25, has had two small cups of coffee with the Padres the past two seasons, appearing in thirty games and hitting .163/.226/.224 in fifty-five plate appearances. The 2008 third-round draft pick out of the University of Miami has had far greater success at the minor-league level, hitting .269/.355/.455 across five levels in five professional seasons.

While Tekotte’s first season at Triple-A was a major disappointment – .243/.284/.402 with nine home runs in eighty-nine games – the White Sox have to hope the young lefty-hitter will revert to his 2011 form when he hit .285/.393/.498 with nineteen home runs at Double-A.

The White Sox signed Kloess, 27, out of the independent leagues in 2009. The right-hander steadily made his way through Chicago’s farm system, ending the 2012 season by posting a 1.61 ERA and 8.4 K/9 in twenty-eight innings at Triple-A Charlotte. Kloess owns a 2.48 ERA, 2.8 BB/9 and 9.9 K/9 in four professional seasons.
