Freddy Garcia rumors: Twins, Rockies, Reds

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

The Minnesota Twins, Colorado Rockies and Cincinnati Reds are among the teams that have checked in on free agent right-hander Freddy Garcia.

The Minnesota Twins, Colorado Rockies and Cincinnati Reds are among the teams that have checked in on free agent right-hander Freddy Garcia, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports:

Heyman goes on to refer to Garcia as a "veteran starter who knows how to pitch," adding that the veteran has averaged 10 wins over the last three years.

The Twins have already added a pair of veteran starters via free agency this offseason in Kevin Correia and Mike Pelfrey. In addition, Minnesota has acquired Vance Worley from the Philadelphia Phillies.

Garcia spent the 2012 season with the New York Yankees, maintaining an ERA of 5.20 with 7.5 strikeouts and 2.9 walks per nine innings over 30 appearances, including 17 starts. The 36-year-old had a salary of $4 million last season after being paid $1 and $1.5 million in 2010 and 2011.

Over 14 seasons at the major league level Garcia owns a career ERA of 4.15 with 6.5 strikeouts and 2.8 walks per nine innings. He’s maintained an ERA of 4.42 over the past three seasons.
