Nick Swisher rumors: 2 teams make offers

The Star-Ledger-US PRESSWIRE

Swish has two standing offers and several others are still interested as well.

Free-agent outfielder NIck Swisher has two contract offers on the table, with another three or four teams still in the mix for his services as well, reports Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News. The Cleveland Indians -- whom Swisher visited on Tuesday -- are one of the teams who have made an offer, but the other squad is unknown at the moment.

The Red Sox, Phillies, Mariners, Rangers and Orioles have all been tied to the switch-hitting slugger over the last month, and their continued interest indicates that most are unconcerned about the top draft pick they will have to give up in order to sign Swisher. The Orioles and Mariners are the only teams that have shown hesitancy in pulling the trigger on a free agent who has a qualifying offer -- Baltimore is reportedly going back and forth on first baseman Adam LaRoche -- but there is still the chance they view Swisher differently.

Swisher is expected to meet with a few other teams this week, though it is believed that he will not stop through Seattle. The top position player left on the market, the 32-year-old Swisher will definitely get a handsome sum of money wherever he ends up, but it will not be the Jayson Werth-type contract he was seeking when the offseason began.
