cody ransom signs minor-league deal with #padres— Jon Heyman (@JonHeymanCBS) December 21, 2012
Ransom, 36, has bounced around the big leagues since his first cup of coffee with the San Francisco Giants in 2001. The right-handed hitting infielder has played for eight other organizations since then, but has only reached the big leagues with six of them, spending all of the 2005 and 2006 seasons at various Triple-A affiliates.
After appearing just 117 big-league games from 2007-2011, Ransom played in a career-high 90 games in 2012 for the Brewers and Diamondbacks, hitting .211/.307/.392 with eight home runs in 266 plate appearances. Ransom has received considerable playing time at all four infield positions but has seen most of his time on the left side of the infield at shortstop and third base.
