Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

Texas is continuing to stay in touch with free agent Cody Ross, while they are “starting to look into” center fielder Michael Bourn.

Even after signing free agent catcher A.J. Pierzynski, the Texas Rangers continue to be in the market for bats. Texas is continuing to stay in touch with free agent Cody Ross, while they are "starting to look into" center fielder Michael Bourn, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports:

The Rangers, still looking to upgrade their offense after agreeing to terms with veteran catcher A.J. Pierzynski, are staying in touch with free-agent outfielder Cody Ross after having a meeting with him. But Texas is also starting to look into free-agent outfielder Michael Bourn.

Heyman notes that the Rangers continue to look into ways to improve after losing Josh Hamilton and Mike Napoli to free agency and failing to land a trio of high-profile players, including Zack Greinke, Justin Upton and James Shields. He adds that Texas’ agreement with Pierzynski "may just be the start."

Beyond the Rangers, the Philadelphia Phillies, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians are the other possibilities to sign Ross. Meanwhile, Texas’ interest in Bourn appears to be "more in the infancy stages," according to Heyman. He notes that the Mariners and Red Sox have been two of the teams to check in on the center fielder so far this offseason.
