The Atlanta Braves aren’t likely to pursue free agent outfielder Delmon Young to fill their left field vacancy.

The Atlanta Braves aren’t likely to pursue free agent outfielder Delmon Young to fill their left field vacancy, according to David O’Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

While he’s flashed talent over his seven years at the major league level, teams are likely concerned about the 27-year-old’s inconsistency and sketchy character.

Last season with the Detroit Tigers, Young hit .267/.296/.411 with 27 doubles, one triple and 18 home runs over 574 at-bats. His best season came in 2010 with the Minnesota Twins when he hit .298/.333/.493 with 46 doubles and 21 home runs. Following that promising campaign, Young was shipped from Minnesota to Detroit.

Over his seven seasons at the major league level Young has hit .284/.317/.425.

So far this offseason, there has been little interest shown in Young. The Tigers made it clear early on that they wouldn’t be re-signing Young, and the Seattle Mariners are the only club that’s been tied to the outfielder so far.

It was reported earlier this month that Young could wait until January to sign. The outfielder underwent ankle surgery and is hoping to be healthy when auditioning for teams.
