The Texas Rangers have signed right-handers Jake Brigham, Evan Meek and Randy Wells and first baseman Brandon Allen to minor league contracts.

The Texas Rangers have signed right-handers Jake Brigham, Evan Meek and Randy Wells and first baseman Brandon Allen to minor league contracts, reports Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

The new contracts Brigham, Meek, Wells and Allen signed with the Rangers include invitations to major league spring training.

Meek appeared in 12 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates last season, posting an ERA of 6.75 over 12 innings. The 29-year-old was Pittsburgh’s All-Star representative in 2010, a season in which he maintained an ERA of 2.14 over 70 appearances.

Wells appeared in 12 games, including four starts, with the Chicago Cubs last season. The 30-year-old posted an ERA of 5.34 over that span and owns a career mark of 4.08 in parts of five seasons at the major league level.

Brigham spent the 2012 season with the Double-A squads of the Rangers and Cubs. The 24-year-old has maintained an ERA of 4.49 over six seasons in the minors.

Allen has hit .203/.390/.375 over 344 at-bats at the major league level.
