The Los Angeles Dodgers are close to getting their guy in free agent starting pitcher Zack Greinke, as first reported by Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports.

According to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, Greinke would be signing a six-year deal for $145 million, which would be one of the largest deals ever for a pitcher. This is great news for the remaining free agent starting pitchers, such as Anibal Sanchez and Ryan Dempster, who now have a market.

The Los Angeles Angels also worked to re-sign Greinke, but the team seemed to have given hope on bringing the starter back to Orange County. The Texas Rangers also pursued Greinke.

Greinke, who was traded mid-season in 2012, posted a 3.48 ERA across 212 1/3 innings of work last year with theLos Angeles Angels and Milwaukee Brewers. The ERA was supported by terrific peripherals of 8.5 K/9 and a 2.3 BB/9.
