Thanks to an aggressive GM, a talented young core of players and the game's best rotation, the Washington Nationals are going to be tough to catch in the NL East next season. Here are the latest signings and rumors around the division-
Signings / Acquisitions
- The Phillies traded pitching prospect Trevor May and starter Vance Worley to the Twins for Ben Revere.
- The Phillies traded right handed reliever Josh Lindblom and Lisalverto Bonilla to the Rangers for Michael Young.
- The Nationals signed Dan Haren to a one-year, $13M deal.
Ongoing Rumors
- The Phillies are still looking for help in the outfield and they may have interest in Josh Hamilton
- The Nationals are confident that they will be able to re-sign Adam LaRoche and if they do, they will be looking to move Mike Morse.
- The Mets and R.A. Dickey have made some progress in their extension talks, reaching common ground on length and structure, but price is still an issue. The Blue Jays are talking to the Mets about Dickey, as are the Rangers, but the Mets price tag remains high.
- The Marlins are interested in Carl Pavano, but only if he will take a base salary of $3M with incentives.
- The Braves are still looking for outfield help following the B.J. Upton signing and will target players open to a one year deal.
