St. Louis Cardinals, Roy Oswalt At An Impasse?
Ken Rosenthal from FOX Sports says that the St. Louis Cardinals have not made Roy Oswalt an offer he finds sufficient yet, and that he wants at least one year and $10 million. He adds that Oswalt has little leverage, with the two teams with the most interest having full rotations. This is where the Boston Red Sox could be a dark horse for him.
Yesterday, Oswalt met with Jon Daniels and Nolan Ryan of the Texas Rangers for lunch, and progress in those talks has not yet been reported. The Rangers and Cardinals both already have set five-man rotations, so they do not have to overpay for Oswalt. He has said that he does not want to pitch in the bullpen.
The Red Sox could come into play -- paying less because they have two rotation spots open, allowing Oswalt to pitch. However, does he really want to showcase himself in the American League East?

It's amazing to me that both Oswalt and Edwin Jackson
don’t have larger markets for themselves. Now, it’s likely their own doing, with Oswalt supposedly wanting to play in “the south,” (which is an exceedingly dumb assertion, true or otherwise), and Jackson looking at a so-called pillow contract to try and leverage more years/money on the next one. But still.
There are what, maybe 3-4 teams that have a rotation strong enough that either wouldn’t be a help, even in the 4th or 5th slot?
Red Sox have so much leverage for either one if they will commit even just a little money

Oswalt...
Should go back to Houston lol… where he will get no run support and no wins. Money shouldnt be as important to him anymore with his back issues, and age.. Just my opinion.. He should be more open at least in the financial aspects of his free agency. He didnt have that good of a season on a team with great run support. So his playing hardball makes little sense to me
