Brewers Hope To Sign Zack Greinke To Extension

Stay connected for news and updates

Milwaukee Brewers principal owner Mark Attanasio has said he would like to wrap-up extensions for general manager Doug Melvin and manager Ron Roenicke before Opening Day. After that, they plan on sitting down with their ace starting pitcher Zack Greinke and sign him to an extension this spring, GM Doug Melvin and owner Mark Attanasio told Jim Bowden of ESPN.

Greinke is in the final year of a four-year, $38 million deal he originally signed with the Royals. And though he is agent-less, the 28-year-old is also open to the possibility of signing a long-term deal. If Greinke hits the open market, he could command a five-year deal with a similar value to what C.J. Wilson signed with the Angels this offseason.
