Manny Ramirez To Pick Between Orioles, A's, Blue Jays
Free agent designated hitter Manny Ramirez wants to make a comeback, and according to Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes, he wants to do so for either the Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics, or Toronto Blue Jays.
Two sources tell Rojas Ramirez is deciding between those three teams, and while none of them have made a formal offer to the free agent, the two sides will negotiate a possible contract after Manny chooses where he'd like to play.
"None of the clubs concerned has made formal offers to Ramirez, but apparently Oakland is the set that would guarantee more opportunities to the slugger, said a second source."
Yesterday we heard the A's and Orioles are the teams most interested, but it's unclear whether either club has made an offer to the free agent. Rojas is hearing the same thing, as well, but reports the A's would be able to give Ramirez the most opportunities to play.

What will it cost? A million pro-rated with the suspension? You have a blurb up about Molitor playing until 40. What was Winfield, 40 something I am sure.
How soon people forget how the best RH hitter of his generation CARRIED the LA Dodgers on his back not so long ago. Not his fault that the overamped and way over rated Scott Boras screwed up on Manny’s next contract after that monster season that he put up.
A happy Manny is a productive Manny. Lots of Latino leadership on the Jays, and he would be playing in a city that he loves enough to frequently visit in the off season.
I’d sign the man to DH against lefties, righties too if within the season he is looking better at the dish than Eddie. But, I really want his bat on the bench when the opposition is thinking about a lefty reliever against Rasmus, Johnson, Lind, Snider/Thames, you catch my drift.
A lefty comes in, announce Manny and let him have at it with the righty that the opposition pulls the lefty for.The other manager has just burned his LH situational pitcher, that’s not a small advantage, over a full schedule.
Manny on the bench, without picking up a bat, gives protection to the Jays’ LH hitters. Manny at the plate won’t give up an out, he has the best eye for borderline balls I have ever seen. He’s not the best RH hitter of his time for nothing. The man has worked his ass off at his craft. Why assume that he has backed off the regime that he has kept for going on 2 decades.
He can be goofy, who cares? His team mates have loved him everywhere he played (except at the end in Boston with their 25 players 25 cabs philosophy) Besides, we all know that AA will check him out right down to his toes and tonsils before he knows that he wants him.
Bats like this come around once or twice a decade.
Sign the man. Every true contender needs a pro bat that has been there, on the bench, and a couple of relievers who have seen most of it and know the score. Guys who know how to perform under pressure, cause they did it before.
