John Lannan Rumors: Red Sox, Tigers Interested

Stay connected for news and updates

According to Danny Knobler of CBS Sports, there is a "growing expectation" that Nationals left-hander John Lannan will be dealt before the season begins, with the Red Sox and Tigers as his top suitors. Both teams have holes in their rotation, and Lannan, owed $5M in 2012, could be a relatively cheap solution.

Among the other interested teams are the Mets, Padres, and Astros, though the former two might not be willing to take on that kind of money. As we've heard for the past few weeks, the Nationals are very interested in moving Lannan, and he likely won't be with the team come April.

"Ladson says with the surplus of pitching, the club can move John Lannan who is "almost a certainty that he (John Lannan) will be dealt before the start of the season."
  • Nationals Notes: Lannan, Bourgeois, Harper - MLB Daily Dish
"Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports that Nationals lefty John Lannan could be traded by Opening Day. A baseball source indicated that he could be traded for prospects within the next few weeks."
