White Sox Looking At Lefty Relievers Mike Gonzalez, Arthur Rhodes

Stay connected for news and updates

The Chicago White Sox are still looking for a couple peripheral pieces, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Heyman is reporting that the White Sox were the other team in on Eric Chavez, who ultimately re-signed with the New York Yankees.

Additionally, the White Sox are still looking for a left-handed reliever. According to Heyman, the club is showing interest in Mike Gonzalez and has checked in on Arthur Rhodes.

Gonzalez is a 33 year-old, 9-year vet with a career 2.94 ERA. He earned $6 million in both 2010 and 2011 while seeing his effectiveness dwindle (4.01 and 4.39 ERA, respectively).

Rhodes, 42, is 20 year vet with seemingly inexhaustible reserves. He has a career ERA of 4.08, but look at his past few years of ERA production, all with 60+ innings pitched: 2008: 2.04; 2009: 2.53; 2010: 2.29; 2011: 4.64. Now, it's possible that his 20th season was the one where he falls off, but if I'm the White Sox, I'm willing to find out.
