Hamels is set to be a free agent for the first time in his career this off season. Heyman says that the Phillies have not made an effort to restart talks, and it is not clear if they are just unhappy with his asking price or if they are loading up to make a hefty offer to Hamels.
The two sides have not talked in nearly a month on trying to get a deal done before the season ends. The deal that Matt Cain signed with the San Francisco Giants this week likely raised the price, as the right hander was also set to be a free agent after this season. His five year deal that he signed is worth $112 million.
