New York Mets reliever Manny Acosta has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN. Acosta was removed from the Mets roster to make room for right-hander Chris Schwinden.

Despite posting solid numbers over the past two seasons for the Mets, Acosta was not able to get on track this year. The 31-year-old surrendered at least one run in each of his first four appearances of the season, resulting in an ERA of 9.00 through April.

Things didn’t get any better for Acosta this month. Over his past three appearances Acosta has been shelled for 11 runs over only 4 1/3 innings of work. On the year Acosta has posted an ERA and WHIP of 11.86 and 2.273.

While the Mets are currently only one-and-a-half games back in the National League East, their bullpen has been atrocious so far this season. Mets relievers have combined to post the worst bullpen ERA in the majors, 5.45, nearly a full run worse than the Philadelphia Phillies who rank 29th.
