The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms with first round pick Courtney Hawkins that will be finalized early next week, reports Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com.

The 13th overall pick in this year's draft, Hawkins will officially sign with the Sox for the assigned slot value of $2.475 when he visits Chicago this coming Monday. The 6' 2", 210-pound righty had a commitment to the University of Texas but will instead try his hand at making the jump to professional ball.

A 17-year-old outfielder out of Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, Hawkins is projected to be a power bat with 30+ home run potential, but his high strike out rate and lack of plate discipline definitely put him in the high risk/high reward camp of draft picks.

Ranked 12th in MLB.com's Top 100 prospects list, Hawkins is probably most well known as "the guy who did the backflip" on draft day last week.
