Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports doesn’t expect the Cleveland Indians to make a move for available designated hitters Manny Ramirez or Vladimir Guerrero. Rosenthal believes what the Indians really need is a left fielder, with one potential option being Carlos Quentin of the San Diego Padres, but says the club will not do anything until it has a better idea of the statuses of Travis Hafner and Grady Sizemore.
Sizemore has yet to make his 2012 debut for the Indians due to back injury, and Hafner’s been on the DL since late May while dealing with a knee injury.
While the Indians are hoping to have Hafner back by the end of June, they are not sure of a timeframe for Sizemore. Indians left fielders have combined to post an OPS of .538 this season, and Rosenthal notes the Johnny Damon (.186/.273/.280) experiment may be ending in the near future.
The Indians have lost seven of their last 10 games, dropping them to second place in the American League Central, 1 ½ games behind the Chicago White Sox.
