The Texas Rangers have announced veteran right-hander Roy Oswalt will make his season debut for the club Friday, reports Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Oswalt’s move into the Rangers rotation will bump right-hander Scott Feldman back to Texas’ bullpen.

After remaining a free agent through the off-season, spring training and the start of the 2012 campaign, Oswalt finally inked a contract with the Rangers on May 29. Upon signing, Oswalt said he hoped to join the Rangers after making four minor league starts.

The 34-year-old made his fourth and final minor league start on Sunday for the Rangers Triple-A affiliate. During that appearance, Oswalt threw 100 pitches over his six innings of work, allowing two runs on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts.

Over Oswalt’s four minor league starts, three with the Rangers Triple-A club and one in Double-A, the veteran hurler maintained an ERA and WHIP of 5.87 and 1.565.

Last season for the Phillies, Oswalt posted an ERA and WHIP of 3.69 and 1.338 over his 23 starts with 6.0 SO/9 and 2.1 BB/9.
