The San Diego Padres are primed to continue their recent trend of shuffling their roster around this morning, as right-hander Matt Palmer is expected to be designated for assignment to make room for Huston Street's return from the disabled list, reports Corey Brock of MLB.com.

Out since May 5 with a strained right lat muscle, Street will look to continue where he left off as the Padres closer, putting up a 0.93 ERA in 10 appearances and converting all four save opportunities.

The 33-year-old Palmer racked up most of his innings this year at Triple-A Tuscon, racking up a 4.64 ERA, 6.3 K/9 and 4.1 BB/9 in 33 innings over seven starts. The former Angels spot starter only threw two innings for the Padres over three relief appearances, giving up two runs and walking two.

Palmer is the second Padres starting pitcher to be DFA'd in the past week, following veteran Jeff Suppan's designation on Saturday. Palmer's release indicates that the newly-acquired Jason Marquis may get a shot in the Padres rotation before long.
