The Los Angeles Angels have placed right-hander Jordan Walden on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right biceps, reports Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com.

To replace Walden on their roster, the Angels have recalled outfielder Kole Calhoun.

Walden has had issues with his shoulder since before the All-Star break. Prior to hitting the DL, the 24-year-old had struggled of late, allowing five runs, eight hits and four walks over his last five innings pitched.

On the season, Walden maintained an ERA and WHIP of 3.86 and 1.571 with 11.3 SO/9 and 5.3 BB/9 over his 28 innings of work.

Calhoun, 24, made his major league debut earlier this season and has appeared in eight games with the Angels, collecting three hits in his 12 at-bats. Over his 280 at-bats with the Angels’ Triple-A affiliate, he’s hit at a clip of .300/.361/.518 with 21 doubles, five triples and 10 home runs.

Do the Angels need to add a reliever this summer?
