Verdugo, 25, will make the start, his major league debut, for the Royals tonight against the Seattle Mariners. The right-hander maintained an ERA and WHIP of 3.58 and 1.284 over his 18 appearances, including 15 starts, for the Royals’ Triple-A affiliate.
Mazzaro has appeared in eight games, including six starts, for the Royals this season, posting an ERA and WHIP of 5.70 and 1.700 over his 30 innings.
The Royals acquired Sanchez, along with Verdugo, in the trade that sent Melky Cabrera to the San Francisco Giants. To the dismay of Royals fans, said deal looks more and more lopsided by the day, as Sanchez is sporting an ERA and WHIP of 7.76 and 2.044, while Cabrera continues to mash for the Giants.
Bourgeois appeared in 19 games for the Royals this season. Over his 33 at-bats, the 30-year-old hit at a clip of .333/.389/.455 with three extra-base hits and eight runs scored.

How awful was the Sanchez/Cabrera trade?
