The Chicago Cubs are working hard to move right-hander Ryan Dempster "by the end of the week," reports Jayson Stark of ESPN:
An exec of one team talking to the #Cubs said today they're working hard to move Ryan Dempster "by the end of the week."

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported earlier today that the Cubs are talking Dempster and exchanging names with several teams, including the Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox.
The Cubs are exchanging names with teams interested in right-hander Ryan Dempster, and the Dodgers, Tigers, Braves and Red Sox all remain in the mix, major-league sources say.
Joel Sherman of The New York Post confirmed Stark’s reports, noting that one baseball executive predicted that Dempster would be "the 1st domino" to fall this summer, the first big player moved that stirs more deals.
It was reported this morning that the Red Sox are in hot pursuit of Dempster and the Dodgers have been tied to the veteran for most of the summer.
