Update 2:53 AM EST: The Dodgers will not be receiving any salary relief from the Marlins, tweets Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports, putting Los Angeles on the hook for the remaining salaries of Ramirez and Choate.

The Dodgers will pay the remainder of Ramirez's $15 million this season as well as the full $15.5 million in 2013 and $16 million in 2014. Choate will become a free-agent at season's end and his contract is nothing to fret over.

Update 2:53 AM EST: The prospect heading to Miami is 22-year-old right-handed reliever Scott McGough, reports Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.

Original Story: Just 90 minutes ago we heard the Marlins brass were ready to trade Hanley Ramirez and trade him soon. But no one could have expected this: the Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired third baseman/shortstop Hanley Ramirez and reliever Randy Choate from the Miami Marlins in exchange for starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi and a minor league player, reports Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports.

Even after making a trade of this magnitude, don't think the Dodgers are done. The team will continue their pursuit of acquiring starting pitcher Ryan Dempster from the Chicago Cubs, reports Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.
