The St. Louis Cardinals have added left-hander Brian Fuentes to their major league roster, reports B.J. Rains of FOXSportsMidwest.com:
Cardinals have added Brian Fuentes to the big league roster and optioned Victor Marte to Memphis..Chuckie Fick DFA'd to make room on 40-man.

In a corresponding roster move the Cardinals optioned right-hander Victor Marte to Triple-A. To make room on their 40-man roster for Fuentes, St. Louis designated right-hander Chuckie Fick for assignment.
Fuentes was released by the Oakland Athletics earlier this month. Over 25 innings pitched this season, the left-hander allowed 19 earned runs and 10 walks, good for an ERA and WHIP of 6.84 and 1.600.
Marte has appeared in 43 games this season for the Cardinals, maintaining an ERA and WHIP of 4.46 and 1.487 over 38 1/3 innings.
