Schneider has been out since the end of June while dealing with an ankle injury. Prior to his injury, the 35-year-old hit .232/.293/.362 with five extra-base hits and 9 runs scored over 69 at-bats.
Before being activated from the DL, Schneider played in six minor league rehab games, all with the Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate.
Brown, 24, played in 56 games for the Phillies last season, maintaining a line of .245/.333/.391 over 184 at-bats. He’s hit .286/.335/.432 with 20 extra-base hits and 28 RBIs over 220 at-bats this year.
Brown figures to see significant time with the Phillies as the club traded away outfielders Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence earlier today.
