Mujica adds some depth to the Cardinals' bullpen, which has struggled this season. Only two of the team's regular relievers have ERAs lower than 4.00, and those two are Mitchell Boggs (set-up man) and Jason Motte (closer). St. Louis hopes that Mujica can return to his 2011 form and help bridge the gap to the late innings.
Zack Cox was the Cardinals' top pick in the 2010 when the club selected him with the 25th overall pick. Cox is a third baseman and has struggled at Triple-A this season, sporting a .254/.294/.421 line through over 300 plate appearances. The 23-year-old entered the season as the no. 88 prospect in the game, according to Baseball America.
