To make room on the team's 40-man roster for newly acquired reliever Jonathan Broxton, the Cincinnati Reds have designated right-handed pitcher Andrew Brackman for assignment, reports Tom Groeschen of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

A former prospect of the New York Yankees, Brackman has struggled with his control and command since being drafted in the first-round of the 2007 MLB Draft. The 26-year-old posted a 6.80 ERA across 49 complete innings of work between Class Triple-A Louisville and with their High-A ball affiliate in Bakersfield.

In his minor league career, Brackman has posted a 7.8 K/9 and 5.1 BB/9, but the walks continue going in the wrong direction. The 6-foot-10 righty did make it to the bigs, but only got a cup of coffee as a September call up.
