Moore, 28 years old, was designated for assignment last week. He's battled knee injuries, but as Jerry Crasnick tweets, Moore's agent Mike McCann "insists he's healthy."
In light of Moore's deep struggles at the major-league level, it's understandable that the Mariners designated him for assignment. In 68 career games, Moore owns a .197/.231/.295 and a 47 OPS+.
As for the Kansas City Royals, Moore will replenish their catching depth. A couple weeks ago, the Royals designated catcher Humberto Quintero for assignment.
Moore has already been optioned to Omaha, KC's Triple-A affiliate.
