The Cleveland Indians have officially released veteran right-hander Derek Lowe, the team has announced:
Indians officially released RHP Derek Lowe today.

Lowe was designated for assignment earlier this month and replaced on the Indians roster by right-hander Corey Kluber.
Over twenty-one starts with Cleveland this season, Lowe maintained an ugly 5.52 ERA with 3.1 SO/9 to go with 3.4 BB/9.
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports Lowe is willing to be a starter or reliever, something Heyman says could enhance his ability to find work.
Lowe was reportedly drawing interest from teams such as the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs, but now it no longer appears these teams are targeting the 39-year-old. The sense is that Lowe may end up in the National League, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun, who lists the San Francisco Giants as a possibility.
