To replace Schierholtz on their roster, the Phillies have recalled infielder Hector Luna from Triple-A.
Schierholtz sustained his injury during yesterday afternoon’s contest against the St. Louis Cardinals. Philadelphia acquired the 28-year-old from the San Francisco Giants as a part of the Hunter Pence trade.
On the season, Schierholtz has hit .246/.315/.406 with five doubles and six home runs while manning mostly right field for the Giants and Phillies. However, Philadelphia had recently been trying Schierholtz in center.
Luna has appeared in twenty-six games with the Phillies this season. Over fifty-seven at-bats, the 32-year-old has hit .246/.295/.386 with two doubles and two home runs. Luna has hit .291/.338/.453 with eleven doubles and six home runs over 203 at-bats for Philadelphia’s Triple-A affiliate.
