The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed utility player Jerry Hairston Jr. on the fifteen-day disabled list with left hip inflammation, the team has announced:

To replace Hairston on their roster, the Dodgers have recalled utility player Elian Herrera.
Hairston was removed from Saturday’s contest against the Miami Marlins due to hip soreness, and the veteran was held out of the Dodgers’ lineup Sunday.
Hairston has hit .273/.342/.387 with thirteen doubles and four home runs over 238 at-bats this season. He’s manned all four infield positions as well as left field, while making most of his appearances at third and second base for LA.
Herrera, 27, made his major league debut earlier this year. He’s hit .243/.326/.331 with ten doubles and one home run over 169 at-bats.
