#Athletics place Brandon Inge on the 15-day disabled list; recall Josh Donaldson from Triple-A Sacramento.
To replace Inge on their roster, the A’s have recalled third baseman Josh Donaldson from Triple-A.
Inge sustained his injury during Saturday’s contest against the Chicago White Sox. He had not returned to the club’s lineup since.
After spending his entire professional career with the Detroit Tigers, Inge was released by the club in April after collecting two hits over his twenty at-bats. He soon signed with the A’s and was inserted as the team’s regular third baseman.
Inge got off to a quick start with Oakland, but he’s since come back down to Earth. Over 281 at-bats for the A’s, he’s hit .224/.285/.384 with twelve doubles and eleven home runs.
Entering the season, Oakland was hoping Donaldson was the solution to their third base issues. Unfortunately for Donaldson and the A’s, the 26-year-old only mustered a clip of .153/.160/.235 over ninety-eight at-bats.
