#STLCards call up Trevor Rosenthal after placing Brian Fuentes on the MLB restricted list; he asked to step away for personal reasons.
To replace Fuentes on their roster, the Cardinals have recalled right-hander Trevor Rosenthal from Triple-A.
After posting an ERA of 6.84 over twenty-six appearances, Fuentes was released by the Oakland Athletics. The Cardinals signed the veteran southpaw soon after, and he’s appeared in six games for the club, allowing five earned runs with six strikeouts and five walks over five innings of work.
Rosenthal made his major league debut earlier this season. The 22-year-old appeared in four games with the Cardinals, allowing two earned runs over four innings. He’s maintained an ERA of 3.12 with 8.3 SO/9 and 3.5 BB/9 over nineteen starts with St. Louis’ Double- and Triple-A affiliates.
