The Miami Marlins made a series of moves following the team's 6-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. According to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald, the team designated infielder Gil Velazquez for assignment and optioned outfielder Scott Cousins to Class Triple-A New Orleans.

The moves were made in order to open up two roster spots for the Marlins to reinstate Emilio Bonifacio and Donnie Murphy from the disabled list. The Marlins will now have ten days to make another roster move involving Velazquez. They will need to trade, release or outright the infielder to the minor leagues.

The 32-year-old Velazquez played in just two games for the Marlins, one of which came on Saturday. In his limited playing time, Velazquez reached base once on a single.
