The San Francisco Giants made several moves over the past 24 hours, including activating newly acquired outfielder Hunter Pence, right-hander Shane Loux and catcher Hector Sanchez, placing first baseman Aubrey Huff on the 15-day disabled list, and optioning outfielder Justin Christian and catcher Eli Whiteside to Triple-A:

Christian and Whiteside were optioned to make room for Loux and Sanchez, who were each activated from the Giants’ 15-day DL. Whiteside has only appeared in six games for San Francisco this season while Christian’s seen action in 22.
Prior to hitting the DL, Loux allowed nine runs over 16 innings pitched, good for an ERA and WHIP of 4.50 and 1.375. Sanchez has hit at a clip of .281/.286/.383 with seven doubles and two home runs over 128 at-bats with the Giants this year.
Pence was acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies and made his Giants’ debut last night, batting fifth and going 0-4 with two strikeouts.
