Barring any setbacks, Stanton could be back in the lineup on Tuesday in the series opener against the Mets at Citi Field.
Stanton is scheduled to begin his rehab assignment with Class A Jupiter on Thursday. The hope is the All-Star right fielder will need only a few Minor League games before returning to big league action.
Stanton is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Class A Jupiter today, according to Frisaro. Stanton has not played since July 7 in St. Louis when he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery. The original return timetable was 4-6 weeks and the team is hoping that for Stanton’s recovery, it will be more along the 4-week side.
The hope stands that only a few minor league games are necessarily before Stanton can return to big league action. Before he went down, the OF’er paced the Marlins with 19 HRs and 50 RBIs; he’s batting .284.
Can the Marlins still turn their season around?
