#Pirates place Starling Marte on 15-day DL wit right oblique strain and have recalled Jose Tabata.
To replace Marte on their roster, the Pirates recalled outfielder Jose Tabata from Triple-A.
Marte sustained the injury during Saturday’s contest against the St. Louis Cardinals. He was forced to leave that game in the bottom of the sixth inning after collecting a hit in two at-bats.
Since making his debut for the Pirates in late July, Marte has hit .253/.287/.421 with three triples and four home runs in ninety-five at-bats. Prior to being called up, the 23-year-old was hitting .286/.347/.500 for the Pirates’ Triple-A affiliate.
Tabata started the year as Pittsburgh’s regular left fielder. He figures to get most of the starts at that position with Marte on the DL, and he collected a pair of hits, including a double, over seven at-bats yesterday.
