Weber made his major league debut earlier this season, making two appearances for the Tigers against the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners. The 27-year-old surrendered four runs on ten hits and two walks with one strikeout over four innings.
While spending most of the year with Detroit’s Triple-A affiliate, Weber has maintained an ERA of 4.20 with 6.8 SO/9 and 2.2 BB/9 over twenty-two appearances, including twenty-one starts.
Weber was initially drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the thirty-fifth round of the 2007 draft, but didn’t sign and was selected by the Tigers the next summer. He’s spent the past five seasons with the club, maintaining a career minor league ERA of 4.03.
