The St. Louis Cardinals have made a few minor roster moves prior to today's series finale against the Pirates. The club has recalled catcher Bryan Anderson and right-hander Trevor Rosenthal, optioning infielder Ryan Jackson and reliever Brandon Dickson to Triple-A Memphis, reports Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com:

The Cardinals are expected to add catcher Bryan Anderson and pitcher Trevor Rosenthal to the roster before Wednesday's series finale in Pittsburgh.

Infielder Ryan Jackson and reliever Brandon Dickson will be optioned to Triple-A in order to create the necessary space on the 25-man roster.

Anderson, 25, gives the Cardinals some flexibility at catcher in the absence of Yadier Molina, who is day-to-day following a hard collision at home plate last night. The left-handed hitting backstop, who had a very brief stint in St. Louis in 2010, is hitting .223/.300/.315 in ninety-nine games at Triple-A this year.

Adding the 22-year-old Rosenthal, the club's No. 6 prospect, to the bullpen gives the Cardinals a fresh arm for their very important final match-up with the Pirates today. Dickson, 27, threw three innings in yesterday's game and would have been unavailable today. Rosenthal has made five appearances for St. Louis this season, giving up two runs in four and two-thirds innings.
