Boston Red Sox left-hander Felix Doubront has been claimed on waivers by an unknown team, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports:
The Sox could begin their package with left-hander Felix Doubront, who was claimed on waivers by an unidentified club Tuesday.
Doubront was reportedly placed on waivers for the first time two weeks ago. It may be that the first waiver report was in error, but if this is indeed his second time on the waiver wire the Red Sox will be forced to give up the young left-hander. If Boston cannot come to a trade agreement with the claiming team, they must give him up for nothing.
Rosenthal writes that Doubront could be part of a package to acquire Twins catcher Joe Mauer, who was placed on waivers yesterday. The 24-year-old Doubront, who recently returned from a two-week DL stint, owns a 4.79 ERA and 8.9 K/9 in twenty-three starts this season.
