The Cleveland Indians have claimed left-hander Scott Maine off waivers from the Chicago Cubs, the team has announced:

Maine was designated for assignment by the Cubs earlier this week to make room on their roster for catcher Anthony Recker.

Maine appeared in twenty-one games for the Cubs this season, maintaining an ERA of 4.79 with 11.3 SO/9 and 5.2 BB/9 over twenty and two-thirds innings pitched. Maine has appeared in forty-one games for Chicago over three seasons with the club, posting a career ERA of 4.87.

After being selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the sixth round of the 2007 MLB Draft, Maine was traded to the Cubs in 2009 with Ryne White for Aaron Heilman. He owns a career minor league ERA of 3.28 over six seasons.
