The Oakland Athletics have acquired right-handed reliever Pat Neshek from the Baltimore Orioles in a trade, as reported by Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. He will be placed on the team's 40-man roster. Orioles manager Buck Showalter confirmed the trade to MLB.com's Brittany Ghiroli. It's currently unclear if the Orioles received anything in the deal.

The 31-year-old Neshek signed a minor league deal with the Orioles in the off-season and has spent the entire 2012 season with the team's Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk. He's done well, too.
In 44 complete innings of work (35 appearances, all out of the bullpen), the righty reliever has posted a 2.66 ERA complimented with a 10.0 K/9 and 1.4 BB/9.
