According to multiple reports, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim activated Gold Glove SS Erick Aybar from the Disabled List and optioned Andrew Romine to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Aybar will return to action tonight against Jarrod Parker and the red-hot Oakland A's. The 28-year-old July 21, when he fouled a ball off his toe. The Angels initially replaced him with top prospect Jean Segura, but then shipped Segura to Milwaukee as part of a package for SP Zack Greinke.

The Angels will hope that Aybar can continue his recent success; Aybar was .296/.343/.474 in June and July. The shortstop signed a four-year extension with the club back in April. With fellow middle infielder Howie Kendrick entrenched at second base, Segura was expendable.

Romine was 4-for-12 in his brief stint with the Angels, and heads back to Salt Lake City with a strong chance at returning to Anaheim as a September call-up, or come up to provide infield depth in the case of an injury.
