The Toronto Blue Jays have outrighted right-hander Andrew Carpenter to Triple-A. Carpenter was designated for assignment this weekend.

Carpenter was one of the Blue Jays’ roster casualties following the promotions of shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria and right-hander Jesse Chavez. Left-hander Brett Cecil was also optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding roster move.

Carpenter had appeared in six games for the Blue Jays this season, allowing five earned runs over nine innings pitched. The 27-year-old struck out nine batters and surrendered six walks over this span.

Carpenter has also pitched for Toronto’s Triple-A affiliate this season, logging seventy-four and two-thirds innings over twenty-one appearances, including twelve starts. He maintained an ERA of 3.38 during this time, with 6.8 K/9 and 2.3 BB/9.

Carpenter has appeared in a total of twenty-three games at the major league level over the past five seasons; three years as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies and one season each with the San Diego Padres and Blue Jays.
