De Los Santos, 24, was reportedly released by the Rangers last week after being designated for assignment by the club on September 1. Signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2006, the young left-hander has always had stellar strike out numbers but has never been able to consistently find the strike zone, averaging 4.9 BB/9 in seven professional seasons.
De Los Santos spent all of this season at the Rangers' Double-A affiliate in Frisco, struggling his way to a 5.22 ERA, 5.2 BB/9 and 10.7 K/9 in twenty-six appearances spanning fifty-eight and two-thirds innings. The left-hander has never played at a level higher than Double-A.
With the acquisition, the Brewers now have one open spot on their 40-man roster.
