The Pittsburgh Pirates announced several roster moves today, including infielder Chase d’Arnaud and right-hander Bryan Morris being recalled, right-hander Evan Meek’s designation for assignment, and the selection of right-hander Rick VandenHurk from Triple-A:

Meek, a 2010 All-Star selection with the Pirates, appeared in just twelve games for the club this season, posting an ERA of 6.75 over twelve innings of work. The 29-year-old maintained an ERA of 2.74 in Triple-A this season, and owns a career ERA of 3.34 over parts five seasons in the majors.
Making his major league debut earlier this season, d’Arnaud has appeared in forty-eight games for the Pirates this year, batting .217/.242/.287 with six doubles and two triples. The 25-year-old has hit .266/.346/.405 over five seasons in the minors.
Morris has yet to make his major league debut, as the 25-year-old has posted an ERA of 2.67 over forty-six appearances for Pittsburgh’s Triple-A affiliate this season.
VandenHurk has spent the season with the Pirates high- and Triple-A clubs, maintaining a combined ERA of 3.06. The 27-year-old sports a career ERA of 5.97 over thirty-five major league appearances.
