The Baltimore Orioles dropped two players from their forty-man roster today, designating right-hander Kevin Gregg and infielder Ryan Adams for assignment, reports Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun.

To replace Gregg and Adams on their roster, the Orioles recalled outfielder Endy Chavez and called up outfielder L.J. Hoes.

Gregg turned in another rough season for the O’s, posting an ERA of 4.74 over his forty appearances. After signing with Baltimore prior to the 2011 season, the 34-year-old posted an ERA of 4.53 with the club. He owns a career mark of 4.11 over ten seasons in the majors.

Adams made his major league debut with the Orioles last season, hitting .281/.333/.326 over eighty-nine at-bats. The 25-year-old has a career clip of .279/.347/.422 over seven minor league seasons.

Chavez tallied 121 at-bats for the O’s this year, only mustering an OPS of .503. He figures to be one of the players used to fill the void left by injured outfielder Nick Markakis, as could Hoes, who hit .287/.372/.388 over 513 at-bats with Baltimore’s Double- and Triple-A clubs.
